Here at Onit Solutions, we love a success story, and whilst we have assisted countless companies in making their web design dreams come true, our recent work for one of Newcastle upon Tyne’s most iconic buildings is really worth shouting about. Renowned for being a stunning venue, known and loved for hosting a number of exquisite and elegant events, we certainly had no shortage of inspiration when developing and launching a new website for The Assembly Rooms, and the results, well, speak for themselves.
The journey so far
Owned and run by the Michaelides family, The Assembly Rooms dates back to 1776, and as well as being a grand Georgian building that simply cannot be overlooked, it is now an exclusive conference and banqueting venue that has built an enviable reputation for delivering a truly bespoke service. A popular choice for weddings, special occasions, conferences and banquets, The Assembly Rooms’ previous website had failed to share the venue’s heritage and grandeur, a fact that the owners were keen to change.
Our work
We are no stranger to the charms of The Assembly Rooms, as well as visiting the venue for personal and professional functions, we have been working with the Michaelides family across numerous projects for quite some time before they approached us for website design and development help. With an in-depth understanding of the brand already established, our team of website designers hit the ground running utilising a glamourous font family, diamond overlay and sumptuous colour scheme to showcase the building’s luxurious nature to online audiences.
In addition to developing a design aesthetic worthy of such an iconic and influential brand, we opted for a WordPress framework as the client was keen to manage updates in-house. During the process, our team also focused on creating a positive user experience and streamlined the navigational structure of the previous website to ensure visitors could browse and take in the call-to-actions and associated information as intended.
The result

The new and improved web platform successfully communicates the grandeur of the building, the history behind it and the stunning spaces inside with the luxury, elegance and sophistication that the venue is admired for taking centre stage.
